BUILD YOUR CAREER AS AN OPERATING ENGINEER

The I.U.O.E. Local 649 Apprenticeship Program is a 4-year program combining paid on-the-job training with classroom and hands-on instruction.

Apprentices attend approximately 4 weeks of unpaid training each year at the Local 649 Training Site.

2026 APPLICATION TIMELINE

Application Pickup Period: August 3 – September 25, 2026

Application Deadline: October 2, 2026 at 4:00 PM

Aptitude Testing & Interviews: Fall 2026 – Spring 2027

Selected Applicants Begin Training: JUNE 2027

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be a high school graduate or have received a GED
• Have a valid Illinois driver’s license showing residence within our jurisdiction
• Pay a $30 cash application fee at pickup
